How do I get healthy, shiny hair ?

How often do you ask this question? We’d all like silky, healthy looking hair every day. Here are some of our top hair tips and some of the most well-known celebrity hair stylists’ secrets. The best part? You can try all of these at home to combat dry dull hair, leaving you with super glossy locks with a salon-worthy feel!

Think about how often you wash your hair
Washing your hair everyday isn’t the right thing for everyone. For some of us, washing our hair too much can throw off our scalp's microbiome (good bacteria that help keep your hair strong and healthy). If your hair seems brittle and lifeless, it might be a victim of over-washing, and try using a wide-toothed comb when de-tangling damp hair to prevent breakage.

Start massaging your scalp
If you want longer, stronger and healthier hair, give your scalp a relaxing massage. This helps blood flow to your scalp stimulating hair growth and enhancing the strength of your roots. Nurture your hair and add natural shine by massaging our Coco & Cherimoya shampoo into your scalp. With ingredients such as coconut fruit extract blended with nourishing avocado and manuka oils packed with fatty acids and antioxidants to feed and protect your hair and natural ylang-ylang flower oil and jasmine flower extract in the fragrance, your hair will be looking and feeling stronger in no time.

A good shampoo should be rich in hair-loving ingredients such as natural oils, fruit extracts and vitamins whereas mass-produced shampoos can often contain harsh chemicals without the kind-to-hair benefits of natural, healthy oils. So, if you’re looking to target specific haircare concerns such as gaining volume or repairing damage, it’s worth thinking about investing in a shampoo with active ingredients which work behind the scene to keep your hair healthy and nourished.

What about conditioning?
We all love using conditioner and seeing how glossy it makes our hair look but many of us aren’t using the correct conditioner application. A big reminder for where we should place conditioner is to think about where our hair gets greasiest first – which is normally always at the roots. This should serve as a guide to skip our roots and only apply from mid-lengths to ends. Conditioning at the roots can end up weighing down your hair and making it look greasier quicker! Commended in the Beauty Shortlist Awards 2020, Guava & Gold’s Paradise Found Conditioner blended with hydrating coconut, avocado and manuka oils and moisturising shea butter, will give you sleek hair with an enchanting scent, volume and style that will last all day long.

Use a hair mask before you work out
The salt from your sweat can dry your hair out. Try using a hair mask before you head to the gym or out for a run to help seal in moisture before the salt has a chance to dry your hair out. "The heat from your workout will allow the mask to work deeper, then all you have to do is rinse and go!” – Jen Alba, celebrity hairstylist whose clients include Khloe Kardashian and Jessica Alba.

Clip-in extensions could be your friend
Are you after that Ariana Grand ponytail but have super-fine hair? Investing in clip-in hair extensions could make all the difference. Clip-in extensions are so versatile making your hair look longer and thicker if that’s the look you’re after. It’s said that the secret behind Ariana’s thick locks is that she stacks two sets of clip-in ponytails to produce a fuller and more voluminous look. You can switch up your style creating a glamorous transformation in minutes using them.

Sleep on a Silk Pillowcase

Silk pillowcases aren’t just great for your skin but also your hair. Friction is often to blame when it comes to split ends and silk pillowcases can reduce friction, giving you hair which is sleeker and smoother as well as being heavenly to sleep on. So a silk pillowcase could be a great investment for an easy way to maintain beautiful hair. What’s not to love?
