Are luxury shampoos really worth the money?

Are luxury shampoos really worth the money?
We all love a bargain but your hair isn’t something you want to compromise on. Much like we need daily nutrients to keep our bodies healthy, so does our hair. With the constant use of hairdryers and hot styling tools, especially in winter months when cold, dry air can make your hair more dehydrated and prone to breakage, we need to take charge and protect our hair from any possible damage before it becomes irreversible. Investing in a luxury shampoo is the haircare secret to luscious locks so the answer to whether it really is worth the money is simple…yes!
Size does matter when it comes to molecules
Choosing beauty products with smaller molecules to penetrate deep into the skin and deliver goodness straight to the source is essential. However, what many people don’t know is that we should be doing the same for our hair to get salon-glossy locks. Cheaper shampoos often contain larger molecules which sit on the surface and can cause a build-up of product making our hair feel greasy.
Quality ingredients are expensive
Luxury shampoos should be rich in hair-loving ingredients such as natural oils, fruit extracts and vitamins whereas drugstore shampoos can often contain harsh chemicals without the kind-to-hair benefits of natural, healthy oils. If you are looking to target specific haircare concerns such as gaining volume or repairing damaged hair, it’s worth thinking about investing in active ingredients which work behind the scenes to keep your hair happy and healthy.
We use avocado oil in all our shampoos which is known for its moisturising benefits for hair, helping to repair and strengthen dry and damaged hair. Minerals in the avocado oil will help seal and protect hair cuticle cells helping to provide a strong defence against hair breaking. And also manuka oil with its anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties which can all help to soothe scalp irritation, reduce dandruff and prevent hair loss.
Cheaper shampoos also usually contain synthetic fragrance. Here at Guava & Gold, our phthalate-free fragrances are made uniquely for us by an internationally-renowned fragrance house using natural extracts like lemon and bergamot peel oils and pink peppercorn. We may pay more to use high quality ingredients in all of our products but we are proud that they are made in England and that they aren’t mass-produced.
They last longer!
Whilst using a cheaper shampoo might seem like a good idea, you could actually end up spending more money as you get through more shampoo with each wash. Some cheaper shampoos may not contain the conditioning agents which help keep our hair clean, making us wash it more and use more shampoo each time. Washing your hair with a more luxurious shampoo not only conditions your hair thoroughly but it also means you use less.
Good quality hair care makes a difference. A little of a really good, luxury shampoo and conditioner goes a long way to conditioning dry and damaged hair and adding volume, strength and shine. And you don’t need to use much of ours to get a great hair wash!
